…for Alice and Eric in Pennsylvania.
I just finished this bespoke cake topper. The bride is made of white dotted swiss fabric; her groom coordinates with a dotted grosgrain ribbon necktie.
The bride’s tail and the base have lace detail; the base also features pleated crepe paper, hand-wired faux-liage (I just made that word up) of vintage Japanese velvet leaves and indeterminate greenery, and some reindeer moss at the birds’ feet.
The (human) bride and groom commissioned this cake topper as their wedding gift to each other.
I’m working on a new bird cake topper today for Alice. We had a chat about her wedding colors, style and vibe, then I pulled together materials and started work. The bride is a dotted-swiss confection with a very lovely tail, shown above.
Here are the materials I pulled together, left to right: The dotted-swiss fabric, some cotton for an added layer, dotted navy ribbon, lace, navy cotton for the groom, assorted floral sprays, velvet vintage leaves (that still have the “JAPAN” tag on them…love that) some blue feathers that aren’t going to be used after all, and assorted stamen.
