Hey, Heather Donohue here. Just a sec while I place this cake topper…
About me: I was a creative and enterprising kid who grew up in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth. Back when my last name was Ekey, my first craft company was a custom pom pom business that blossomed from my fourth grade schooldesk, much to my teacher’s chagrin. These days my craft lab is 15 miles west of Manhattan, in Montclair, New Jersey. This blog is a glimpse into what I’m building lately, and where I find inspiration.

It’s all so very cute! I love all the old easter decorations, not to mention all the crafty goodness you’ve been up to!

Heather,
Love the acorns but those chickens look incredibly yummy, especially when wearing the jaunty scarf. By the way, you definitely win the best sister of 2007 award.
Craft-on!

Hello! I am a Pennsylvania bride looking for a neat bird cake topper for my country-ish June wedding. I stumbled upon this website, and I *love* your toppers! I assume these are generally custom-made for people you know, but have you thought about selling them to complete strangers who fall in love with your work over the internet? Please feel free to email me if you feel like taking a commission!

Hello, Alice!
Indeed, the cake toppers have been custom-ordered by friends and family, but I’m happy taking commissions for others! I’ll email you momentarily.
p.s. Wouldn’t it be fun to “watch” the behind-the-scenes as I blog about your bespoke cake topper? Neat-o.

Hi!
Oh, I love the handmade cupcakes you did! Do you think you could whip up a custom batch for me? Thanks for your help!

Heather, it’s Friday afternoon and I’m browsing. I was lured here by the tiny stamp houses and stumbled on your Christmas photos.
I’m doing a book on a specific area of crafting for Christmas.
Email me at work and let’s chat, please. Love the houses.

Hi there Heather- I really admire your work, I am a design consultant for a bridal (primarily) invitation boutique in Bernardsville, NJ… I stumbled upon your site and I am not only interested professionally but personally as well- I would LOVE to get an estimate for a pair of bird cake toppers.

Hello!
I found your website a few days ago during a random search of crafts and for obvious reasons your site stood out! After making more than a few visits to your site and after many hours (literally, hours) of checking out all your projects I read that you were based in Montclair. I live in Glen Ridge and I share the same passion for crafts and I know this is a stretch, but I was wondering if I might be able to visit with you or possibly even help you out when you need an extra pair of hands! I know this may sound crazy but I had to ask, you are my inspiration!

Hi Heather,
I will get married on Aug 2, 2008. It it possible to design an interracial bird caketopper..the male bird being white and the female black. Your caketoppers are beautiful. Thank you for your time.

Heather,
Your cake toppers are beautiful, you have a great talent! Are you currently taking orders? My wedding is in October and I would love to have one of your designs grace the top of my cake. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!
